Ganosamhati Andolan
About the party
Started in 2002 as a joint initiative of student, workers', women's and farmers' organisations; a political party since 2016. In 2026 Zonayed Saki won the Brahmanbaria-6 seat. It has 1 member in the 13th Parliament.
On 29 August 2002 several organisations, among them Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, Nari Sanghati, Garments Sramik Sanghati, Protibesh Andolan and Krishak-Majur Sanghati, together formed Ganosamhati Andolan with ‘a call to build the people's own political force’. At its third national delegates' conference in November 2016 it formally became a political party, with Zonayed Saki as chief coordinator.
The party took part in the July 2024 uprising and received Election Commission registration on 17 September that year. In the 2026 election, under an understanding with the BNP, Zonayed Saki won the Brahmanbaria-6 seat; he later stepped down as chief coordinator.
