Profile

Md Jahidur Rahaman is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party member of the 13th Parliament elected from Thakurgaon-3. This page gives his profile and contact details.

Md Jahidur Rahaman is the member of parliament for Thakurgaon-3 (Pirganj and Ranishankail) in the 13th Parliament. This is his second term from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He was first elected MP from the same seat in the 2018 election to the 11th Parliament.

Jahidur Rahaman was born on 11 January 1959 in the village of Uttar Malancha in Pirganj upazila, Thakurgaon district. His father is Mobarak Ali and his mother Jamila Khatun. According to his family, his father served as chairman of the local union parishad for about 25 years, and it was from his father that he drew his first inspiration for politics. He is a farmer by profession.

Jahidur Rahaman has been involved in politics since 1978. Guided by the then leaders of the Pirganj upazila BNP, he became active in Chhatra Dal politics. He has said that a speech by the then President Ziaur Rahman at a public rally on the Pirganj Government College ground in 1979 inspired him to become active in the BNP. In that year's parliamentary election he campaigned for the party's candidate in the Pirganj-Setabganj constituency. In the late 1980s, during the anti-Ershad movement, he took part in party activities in Thakurgaon and helped expand the party's work at the local level. He was also the BNP's candidate for Thakurgaon-3 in the 2008 election.

In the election to the 13th Parliament held on 12 February 2026 he was elected MP again, winning 132,797 votes with the sheaf of paddy symbol, and he took the oath on 17 February 2026.
