Md. Rashedul Islam Rashed

Md. Rashedul Islam Rashed, known as Hafez Rashedul Islam, is the member of parliament for Sherpur-1 (Sherpur Sadar) in the 13th Parliament. He has entered Parliament for the first time, for Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. In Parliament he is a member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Planning. He is a former central president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir and is currently a member of the central Majlis-e-Shura of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Rashedul Islam was born in 1990 in Kumri Mudipara village, Bajitkhila union, Sherpur Sadar upazila. He is the son of Md. Abul Kashem and Rezia Begum, and the youngest of five siblings. After completing his primary education at Kumri Kalitola Government Primary School, he memorised the Quran (hifz) at Ghonapara Hafezia Madrasa and Farukia Darussalam Madrasa. After passing the Dakhil from Al-Jamiatul Islamia Fazil Madrasa and the Alim from Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa, he earned BSc (Honours) and MSc degrees from the Department of Population Science and Human Resource Development at the University of Rajshahi. He also obtained a diploma in professional IT from the Technical Education Board and an MBA from Manarat International University.

He began his career as executive director of a skill development institution in Dhaka. Later, as an entrepreneur, he became involved in running a publishing house, a Hajj and Umrah agency, an online news portal, a hospital, an agro farm, a consultancy firm and an educational institution. He writes on Islamic thought, leadership and human resource development. In 2022 his booklet 'Manush Gorar Nobobi Shilpo: Rasul (SAW)-er Proshikkhon Poddhoti' (The Prophetic Art of Building People: The Training Method of the Messenger, peace be upon him) was published by Prochchhod Prokashon.

Rashedul Islam joined Chhatra Shibir in 2003, while in class nine. In 2009, while studying at the University of Rajshahi, he became a member of the organisation. He later served as a member of its central executive council, president of its University of Rajshahi unit, central science, education, dawah and office secretary, and secretary general. In 2022 he was the central president of Chhatra Shibir. In 2023 he joined Jamaat-e-Islami, where he serves as a member of the working committee of Dhaka Metropolitan South and a member of the central Majlis-e-Shura. Contesting for the first time, in the election to the 13th Parliament held on 12 February 2026, he was elected member of parliament for Sherpur-1 with 127,811 votes under the scales symbol.

In social work, as chairman of the Sherpur Forum and the Sherpur Advancement Forum of Equity, he is involved in education, employment and humanitarian assistance activities. He has played a part in initiatives such as relief distribution, scholarships, tree planting and free medical camps.
