S. M. Zilany is a member of the 13th Parliament elected from Gopalganj-3 and President, Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

S. M. Zilany is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) member of parliament elected from Gopalganj-3 (Tungipara and Kotalipara). This is his first term, in the 13th Parliament.

S. M. Zilany was born on 2 June 1969 in Tungipara upazila, Gopalganj district. His father is Sheikh Abdur Rashid and his mother Mst. Nurun Nahar.

In party politics he is president of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, an associate organisation of the BNP. In the 13th parliamentary election held on 12 February 2026, he was elected MP for the first time, with 60,991 votes under the sheaf of paddy symbol. In this election the sheaf of paddy candidates won all three seats in Gopalganj district.
