Sarowar Alamgir is the member of parliament for Chattogram-2 (Fatikchhari) in the 13th Parliament. He has entered Parliament for the first time, for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). In Parliament he is a member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Alongside politics, Sarowar Alamgir is a businessman. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Halda Group, a Chattogram-based industrial group. Founded in the mid-1990s, the group works in ready-made garments, garment accessories, textile manufacturing and real estate.
As a member of the BNP he has taken part in various political activities of the party in Chattogram. In the election to the 13th Parliament held on 12 February 2026 he won the Chattogram-2 seat as the BNP candidate, receiving 138,545 votes with the sheaf of paddy symbol. After the gazette of the results was published, he took the oath as a member of parliament on 9 July 2026.
