He was born on 3 January 1962 in Damudya upazila, Shariatpur district. His father is Md. Ali Akbar Mia and his mother Syeda Safia Akbar.

In his professional life he is an established businessman. He is the proprietor of Ahmed Shipping Lines, Ahmed Inland Shipping Agency, A K International and Ahmed Airways Services. He also serves as chairman of Global Insurance Limited.

In the 13th parliamentary election held on 12 February 2026, he was elected MP as the BNP candidate with 77,398 votes under the sheaf of paddy symbol.
